Alabama Rare Bird Report -- Tuesday, April 25, 2000.

HIGHLIGHTS: Vaux's Swift, Black-whiskered Vireo, Clay-colored Sparrow, and Shiny Cowbird.

NOTE: When possible, blocks from the DeLorme Alabama Atlas will be given after the site description, with the page number followed by the block.

A large fallout of migrants was noted yesterday at Ft. Morgan. [DeLorme 64-B4]

Three unidentified shearwaters were seen yesterday from the Gulf SP pier. [DeLorme 64-F3]

The AOS meeting at Dauphin Island this weekend produced good numbers of migrants, and several rarities.  The latter included reports of a MARBLED GODWIT (Sea Pointe reached from Albright), two VAUX'S SWIFTS (Shell Mounds), several BLACK-WHISKERED VIREOS (various locations), a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW (field at entrance to airport), and a SHINY COWBIRD (feeder on Albright).  [DeLorme 64-B/3&4]

Four GLOSSY IBIS were seen 4/22 at the Battleship on the Mobile Causeway. These may be the same four that were noted last week in the roadside ponds along  Blakeley Island Road, which continued to be good for shorebirds this weekend.  Please be careful of heavy traffic if stopping on the roadside on the Blakeley Island Road.  [DeLorme 62-C&D4]
