Alabama Rare Bird Report - Sunday, February 9, 2003.

A GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL was found 2/8 at the Lake Point SP marina north of Eufaula. [DeAL 54-B3][BGtA p. 86]

At least one LE CONTE'S SPARROW has been seen for a few weeks now at Key Cave NWR in Lauderdale County. To reach the refuge follow AL 20 west from Florence and turn left on County 2. In 4.0 miles turn left on County 223 and go 1.5 miles south to County 204. Turn right (west) onto County 204 and in a short distance stop at the gravel parking lot on the left marked with refuge signs. Check the native grass field between the parking area and the pond just east of a corn field. A SHORT-EARED OWL was also seen at this location 1/31. [DeAL 17-D6][BGtA p. 229]

An adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL continued 2/4 at Wilson Dam near Florence. [DeAL 17-C7][BGtA p. 213]

Around 300 SANDHILL CRANES and a few ROSS'S GEESE continue at Limestone Bay on Wheeler NWR. [DeAL 18-F5][BGtA p. 244]
