Joe Wheeler State Park, AL

Although the lodge, golf course, etc. are geared more towards other activities, there are abundant opportunities for birding here also. This photo is from the first pull-off area after you turn left off Highway 72 just before the Elk River Bridge. The Lodge is about 4 miles from Hwy 72, and the gated area (about 2 miles in) is closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
